Kristen + Cody | Wissahickon Engagement
Kristen and Cody enjoy spending time outdoors together, so I suggested a walk through Wissahickon Park for their engagement session last spring. It was an unseasonably warm day and we made it all the way back to Devil's Pool before turning around. While we hiked and photographed, Kristen told me their engagement story: "My parents bought a cabin in the 1970s at Lake Wallenpaupack in the Poconos. I grew up going to the cabin with my parents and grandparents and continue to visit the Lake and cabin in my adulthood. Cody knew how special the lake is to me and he also knows how close I am to my family. He wanted the proposal to be intimate and personal but at the same time be able to celebrate with my family. The weekend of August 17th, 2013, Cody and I went to the cabin along with my parents and my sister and her husband. I was hoping to be engaged by the end of the year but had no clue it was about to happen this weekend. After dinner Cody asked me if I wanted to walk down to the docks and watch the sunset. I agreed. We walked along the shoreline and the sun was setting and the sky was pink. There was no one around. Cody then told me his feelings and proposed. It was absolutely perfect to be in this setting that meant so much to me throughout my life and that we were alone and could treasure this moment together. After we gathered our composure, we headed back up to the cabin where we were able to share the great news and celebrate with my family."
I thoroughly enjoyed photographing the connection that Kristen and Cody share and look forward to photographing their wedding soon!
