Kelly + Charles | The Farmhouse at People's Light Theatre Wedding
Kelly and Charles were married on a beautifully sunny summer afternoon at the People's Light Theater in Malvern, PA. Kelly got ready at Salon Fiber, the salon where she works in downtown Phoenixville; I loved this nod to her chosen profession and was obsessed with the vintage hair dryer in the front of the shop! After Kelly stepped into her gown, we were off to her first look with Charles and a quick alone session at People's Light before starting the intimate ceremony. It was a perfect luncheon event and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate with my old friend.
Kelly and I met during our time at the Ministry of Information... that infamous bar that I've mentioned in previous blog posts. We were both regulars at different times over the years but it wasn't until I started bartending the Monday night shift that we hit it off. We made a lot of great friends and memories during that time but unfortunately, Kelly and I lost touch after the bar closed. Years later, I was thrilled when Kelly reached out to ask me to document her wedding.
During my time in the restaurant industry I had put my camera down in an attempt to be more present in my life. In some ways the experiment worked beautifully; I feel like my co-workers and regulars helped me come out of my shell and to stop hiding behind my camera. Looking back now, perhaps the bar was just another barrier in the way of becoming truly engaged with my life. Regardless, I would never trade that time and know that I'm a better story teller for it.
After we lost touch, Kelly also moved on, first going to cosmetology school, then meeting and marrying Charles and subsequently becoming a mother. I feel blessed that I've had the opportunity to know Kelly over the years and I couldn't be happier for all of the beautiful things that have happened in her life since our days swapping stories over cocktails.
