Emma + Dylan | Shawnee Inn on the Delaware Wedding

Emma and Dylan were referred to me by my great photographer friend Meg, of Megan Keller Photography. I bring this up because I inherently trust Meg's opinion of people and she just always attracts and surrounds herself by awesome, genuine, good people. From the moment that Emma contacted me, I knew that I would love working with her just from the tone of the email. There was a sense of honesty and quirkiness that I loved immediately!

This sentiment continued during their engagement session. Emma and Dylan invited me to Emma's family home along the Delaware River last fall to officially meet in person and to capture some imagery. They both admitted to being uncomfortable in front of the camera (which I can totally relate to!), so we took the time to explore the river front and to talk about their story. You can check out their esesh HERE.

Emma and Dylan met in high school via track & field meets where their rival schools would compete. At fifteen, Emma felt a connection and Dylan admits his vivid recollection of that moment and the subsequent meets where he would look for her without any reason other than to engage in some small talk. After four years of being drawn back to each other, the couple officially began dating... just in time to study abroad on different continents. The long distance relationship solidified feelings and the rest is history!

Before the wedding, I asked both Emma and Dylan, "What do you love most about your partner?" Here is what they said.

Emma ~ "He really tries to be a good person. He has done so many thoughtful and kind things for others, myself included. He has a positive impact on pretty much everyone he meets. You should see him coach and teach - he is astoundingly good at both things. I am so proud of the impact he makes on the lives of his students and athletes. He really tries to make this world a better place and succeeds in his attempt. Also, have I mentioned that he is really cute!"

Dylan ~ " I love who she is. It is hard to pick one aspect because everything that she is... makes up who she is. I love her weirdness. I really love that she is completely comfortable around me. She says what is on her mind, acts quirky and knows that we will love each other no matter how odd we act. This level of comfort is an awesome aspect of our relationship. I love that she enjoys the same activities as me, her kindness, her morals, her determination and her care for me."

I want to personally acknowledge how welcomed I felt by Emma and Dylan. They, along with their wonderful family, made me feel completely comfortable and at home from the moment that I met them during the engagement session. I was welcomed and appreciated through email and online contact and then as I documented Emma and Dylan's beautiful marriage and wedding celebration at the Shawnee Inn. I really feel lucky to have met this family and as I reflect on their day, I am reminded why I love documenting weddings. Emma and Dylan, thank you for making my job so rewarding.

Enjoy!
