Several months ago my friend Maggie, owner of Maggie J Photography, approached me with the offer to act as her supporting shooter during a destination wedding that she would be photographing. I was thrilled that Maggie wanted me to come along. I quickly rearranged my schedule and booked a flight to Florence, Italy; this was my first trip to Europe and I was extremely excited to travel and photograph. What an amazing opportunity!

The morning of Aleksandra & Tom's wedding, Maggie and I drove off into the countryside en route to the event in Poppi, a municipality in the Province of Arezzo in the Italian region of Tuscany. Driving in Tuscany was a bit challenging, especially without a GPS! but luckily we came across several kind strangers who helped us find our remote villa destination. We arrived in Poppi with plenty of time to explore the area but were anxious to rendevouz with our bride & groom. After locating the villa turnoff and heading down a winding dirt drive, it was immediately apparent why Alex had chosen this location... simply stunning.

Alex & Tom shared an intimate evening wedding ceremony and dinner with close family at Vecchia Quercia overlooking Castello dei Conti Guidi. It was truly an honor to be invited to witness and document their event, especially considering that I was a stranger among a group of about twenty family members. In addition to taking a few images during the alone session orchestrated by Maggie, I had the opportunity to act as primary photographer during the wedding ceremony; Maggie performed a bi-lingual ceremony for the couple and their guests while I documented.

Although I was not the contracted studio during this event, Maggie has encouraged me to create my own blog post of the imagery that I captured.
